Individual tailored lessons

Here at Spanish School Arequipa we believe that individualized lesson plans, tailored to your level and needs is the most efficient use of your short time studying with us. Below is the general outline of our courses and when you arrive, you and your teachers will decide on a more specific plan.

Survival, short but efficient

Designed for travelers with little to no Spanish experience but wanting to learn how to 'get around town'. This course will teach you the minimum basics to feel comfortable while traveling around South America. Basic verbs, contextual vocabulary, typical travel dialog, asking directions, making travel plans and using currency are themes included. Also, a strong emphasis is placed on pronunciation. One week is minimum, however, three weeks is the best. After finishing this level, you can choose to follow the Basic formal course if you would like to continue studying.

Basic level, strong basis for the future

For those with some Spanish and formal class experience who want serious formal learning of the language. This level focus on the development of grammar and conversation skills. Your educational plan will also include learning about Arequipa, surrounding cities like Puno and Cusco and the cultural aspects of Peru. This level creates strong basis of grammatical structures, strength in pronunciation, social and common conversation and writing skills. Recommended period for Basic level is three weeks, and it can be extended to six weeks. The best amount of time is four weeks which also makes you eligible to move up to the next level.

Up to the Intermediate level

So, you understand most situations, write and read a little Spanish. Now you want to express feelings, conditions, manage the familiar language and argue about reality or equivalent. This is our intermediate course. We recommend students to takes a placement exam at school if you are not sure which level suits to your knowledge. Based on the results, the teachers will prepare materials and contents. A strong placement is put on correct pronunciation, tense usage and comprehension. Recommended period- one to four weeks.

Our advanced level is para personas con fuerte conocimiento del español, que entiendan lecturas en general, escriban resúmenes simples acerca de sus intereses profesionales y utilicen español intensamente. Es la fase en la que se discuten los detalles del idioma. Se pone énfasis en discutir temas sociales y profesionales. También se utiliza el tiempo de clases para un repaso de las formas gramaticales del idioma. If you understand this, you are eligible for this level. Recommended period one to four weeks..
